Dmitri Stratievski was born and grew up in Ukraine and studied history and politics, specializing in Eastern Europe, at the Freie Universität Berlin. He is interested in the fate of Soviet prisoners of war who were imprisoned by the Germans and their return to the Soviet Union from an academic and journalistic perspective. He is research assistant on the international documentation project, “Soviet and German Prisoners of War and Military Internees” at the Max Weber Stiftung and chairman of the Osteuropa-Zentrum Berlin e.V. (Eastern Europe Centre Berlin).
