Dr. David Skrabania, born in 1981 in Tarnowskie Góry (Tarnowitz), is director of the "Oberschlesisches Landesmuseum" (Upper Silesian Museum) in Ratingen/Hösel. He studied history and Slavic studies at the Ruhr University Bochum 2006-2012 and received his PhD from the Chair of Eastern European History at the Ruhr University Bochum in 2018. His dissertation thesis was published in 2019 under the title "Keine Polen? Bewusstseinsprozesse und Partizipationsstrategien unter Ruhrpolen zwischen Reichsgründung und den Anfängen der Weimarer Republik" (No Poles? Processes of Consciousness and Strategies of Participation among Ruhr Poles between the Founding of the Reich and the Beginnings of the Weimar Republic.) Other publications in the field of Central and East-Central European migration history in the 19th and 20th centuries, most recently: Migrationsgeschichte Oberschlesiens im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert (Migration History of Upper Silesia in the 19th and 20th Centuries) (co-authored with Dr. Bernard Linek and Dr. Andrzej Michalczyk, expected to be published in 2022); translations of various scholarly monographs, anthologies, and essays from Polish into German. Most recently published: "Fritz Bracht - Gauleiter von Oberschlesien", by Mirosław Węcki (2020).
