Dr. Tatsiana Astrouskaya has worked as a research associate at the Herder Institute since 2018 with the PostDoc project "A Long Road Home? Jewish Refuseniks on Their Way to Emigration from Soviet Belarus". Since 2020, she has been coordinator for the Herder Institute Research Academy. She defended her dissertation  "Cultural Dissent in Soviet Belarus (1968–1988). Intelligentsia, Samizdat and Non­conformist Discourses" at the University of Greifswald in 2018. Between 2000 and 2009, she studied philosophy, social theory, and political philosophy in Minsk and Vilnius, and subsequently held teaching positions and research fellowships from the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the George Bell Institute, the Open Society Foundation, and the DAAD, among others.
