Elisa-Maria Hiemer's research is situated at the intersection of history and literature, with a particular focus on social narratives with a focus on Poland. In addition to the topics of memory cultures and urban space, she conducted research at the Herder Institute from 2019-2022 on discourses of motherhood, abortion and sexuality in interwar Poland.
