Beata Halicka has been Professor of Contemporary History at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań since 2018. Previously, she taught at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) between 2006 and 2014 and at the German-Polish Research Institute of the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice from 2013 to 2018. Her research interests include forced migrations, nationalism, German-Polish relations, identity constructions in border areas, as well as memory culture and politics. In 2016, her book "Poland's Wild West" - Forced Migration and the Cultural Appropriation of the Oder Region 1945-1948" was awarded the Identitas Prize for the best historical book in Poland.
