Sabine Stach

PD Dr. Sabine Stach is a cultural scholar and research associate at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO). She received her doctorate in Leipzig with a dissertation on political martyrdom discourses and completed her habilitation there with a study on the use of history in tourism. From 2015 to 2020, she worked at the German Historical Institute Warsaw. Her research focuses on public history, memory studies, and the history of tourism. She is particularly interested in performative practices of historical culture, especially in the late and post-socialist periods in (East) Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
