Sara Kathleen Hayden Billion graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a double major in Russian Translation (B.S.) and German Studies (B.A.), including three minors in Natural Sciences, International Agriculture, and International Studies. She earned a Magistra Artium from the Philipps University in Marburg, Germany, with the majors Slavic Studies (Russian/Polish) and German Language and Literature. During her studies she spent time at the M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Goryachkin Moscow State Agroengineering University, and the St. Petersburg State University in Russia. As a research assistant in the German Department in Marburg from 2012-2019, she specialized in German and North Frisian dialects, spending time doing research at the Ferring Stifting on the island of Föhr in Northern Germany. Currently she is teaching Russian at a private school in Diez. Her hobbies include beekeeping, as well as hiking and playing music with her husband and three children in the Taunus Mountains.
