Ulrike Huhn is a historian specializing in Eastern Europe. She received her doctorate from Humboldt University in Berlin in 2014 with a dissertation on the Russian Orthodox Church in the Soviet Union, published under the title Glaube und Eigensinn. Volksfrömmigkeit zwischen orthodoxer Kirche und sowjetischem Staat 1941 bis 1960 (Faith and Nonconformity: Popular Piety between the Orthodox Church and the Soviet State, 1941–1960). She has held positions at Humboldt University Berlin, the Research Centre for East European Studies (Forschungsstelle Osteuropa), the University of Bremen, and most recently the Georg August University of Göttingen. In 2025, her book Zwischen Ausreisebewegung und Akademie. Judaistik in der späten Sowjetunionim Wallstein-Verlag (Between the Emigration Movement and the Academy: Jewish Studies in the Late Soviet Union) was published by Wallstein Verlag. Since 2024, she has been developing a civic education center on democracy in Verden (Aller), Lower Saxony, and is affiliated with Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.
