Prof. Dr. Yvonne Kleinmann has been Professor of Eastern European History at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and Director of the interdisciplinary Aleksander Brückner Centre for Polish Studies (Halle/Jena) since 2013. She completed her studies in Cologne, Mainz and Paris and submitted a dissertation on Jewish lifestyles in St. Petersburg and Moscow in the 19th century in Cologne in 2003. She has taught in Cologne, Mainz, Leipzig and Halle. As a postdoctoral researcher, she headed the Emmy Noether Group "Wege der Rechtsfindung in ethnisch-religiös gemischten Gesellschaften" with a focus on Poland from the early modern period to the Second World War. Her research focuses on the history of imperial Russia, Jewish history in Eastern Europe and Polish history in its European and global interconnections. Thematically, she is particularly concerned with migration and urban history, interreligious relations and a sociologically renewed legal and constitutional history.
