The Digital Shift in Academic Communication
Challenges for the research and presentation of the history of Eastern Europe
Digital conference for the launch of the online portal "Copernico. History and Cultural Heritage in Eastern Europe" on 12 November 2021, 9.30am - 4.30pm
With the conference "Digitaler Wandel in der Wissenschaftskommunikation" (the digital shift in academic communication), the Herder Institute aims to look at the issue of how the shift to digital technologies is changing the historical sciences. The focus will be on research infrastructures, the practice of research itself, and the field of academic communication and knowledge transfer.
What challenges do research infrastructures face, both now and in the future? Are the questions, epistemological interests, and also the findings of the historical sciences changing as a result of the digital revolution? And: How is academic communication changing, not least with regard to changes around how knowledge is received?
In addition to the Copernico portal, other digital services and initiatives will be presented at the conference, which will conclude with a panel discussion on "Tendencies and Future Perspectives in Researching and Presenting the History of Eastern Europe".
