The “Siebenbürgische Sommerakademie” (“Transylvanian Summer Academy”) takes place yearly in Transylvania. Its goal is to offer students, young academics, docs and post docs who engage with this space, the opportunity to present their projects for discussion, exchange ideas with professionals, and make lasting connections. The event consists of two parts and is aimed at young people who are interested in Transylvania as well as young talented academics active in the areas of history, political, social, literary, art, and cultural studies but also archeology, geography, and the history of religion.
In order to reach as many young people of differing origins and interests as possible, the Summer Academy combines introductory lectures on Transylvanian regional and cultural studies, presentations, and "proseminars" (working with sources) in addition to practical field trips to church castles, clergy houses and gardens, as well as study trips into the surrounding areas.
