The Northeast Institute awards research fellowships, each of which is placed under a thematic umbrella.
Text
The research fellowship is primarily aimed at young scientists (doctoral students, postdocs), but can also be awarded to postdoctoral scientists and professors. It is granted for one to three months. The qualification-dependent stipend of between 1,800 € and 2,500 € per month is intended to cover the additional expenses incurred by the recipient as a result of the research stay in Lüneburg (compulsory presence).
The scholarship is awarded according to excellence criteria. Only research projects for which adequate preliminary work has already been done will be considered for support.
The integration of the fellows into the Northeast Institute takes place on several levels for the duration of the fellowship. On the one hand, a research associate supports the research activities of the guest during the stay, and the scientists are also available for discussions. On the other hand, the fellows are expected to contribute to the activities of the institute, for example by giving a lecture, a reading or a talk for the broader public (cultural mediation).
The institute provides a workspace in the institute for the duration of the fellowship. The very well equipped Northeast Library can be used as a specialized library. In addition, the institute provides a direct insight into a regionally, nationally and internationally shaped scientific research landscape and discourse culture through the diversity of its research projects, working groups, workshops and conferences.
