Decades after the political changes of 1989, Eastern Europe remains one of the lesser known regions of the world. The publication series “New Perspectives on Central and Eastern European Studies” therefore investigates its history with a special focus on the Baltic States, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.
Text
This series addresses specific topics and questions arising from the region's history, shaped by multi-ethnicity, legacies of European Empires and national conflicts, thus providing a better understanding of many of Eastern Europe’s current problems. Peter Haslinger and Heidi Hein-Kircher are publishing this series for the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe, together with Berghahn Books (New York and Oxford).
