The debate about gender asterisks, underscores and colons is not dying down. It has been heating up people's minds again and again for years, especially in the social media. Those who strive for a gender-sensitive way of writing and/or speaking are not infrequently insulted as linguistic mischief-makers. Those who stick to the generic masculine often have to put up with being called die-hards. Our author explains the Copernico team's decision.
