In addition to several million casualties, the Second World War also led to enormous population displacements, particularly in East Central Europe. Resettlement, flight, expulsion and forms of ethnic cleansing were among the direct side-effects of the war, as was the history of those left homeless after the war, the so-called displaced persons. With the help of first-person documents and maps, we trace the paths of flight, resettlement and expulsion.
