From 2011 to 2021, the Cultural Center East Prussia carried out five contemporary witness projects, in which people with first-hand experience of life in East Prussia were interviewed. Listeners can gain an up-close and personal impression of life in that long-since vanished world. The last interviewees recount stories from their early years in Königsberg and Allenstein ("Allenstein – the city of our youth"; "Königsberg – listen ...") or on estates and in country castles ("Carefree Times – youthful years on East Prussian estates and country castles"). They discuss their everyday lives as well as local customs and traditions. Another unique project looks at the period immediately after the Second World War in Warmia and Masuria, when the new Polish population settled in the region alongside the long-established inhabitants and the first encounters between the two peoples took place ("New Neighbors - Germans and Poles in Warmia and Masuria after 1945"). All the interviews were recorded in two languages and presented in a bilingual brochure. Two CDs were also produced, featuring the most interesting reports, which can be listened to either in German or Polish.
