mBook “Russian-German Cultural History”
The digital mBook “Russian-German Cultural History” was a workbook published by the Institute for Digital Learning in collaboration with the Museum of Russian-German Cultural History in 2017. Using the example of the Russian-Germans, it conveyed that experiences such as being on the move and losing one's homeland, freedom and persecution, suffering and happiness moved us all - regardless of our origin.
The mBook “Russian-German Cultural History” was a digital learning and workbook. It provided an in-depth insight into the history of Russian-Germans and the relationship between Germany and Russia. The focus was on identity and homeland, expulsion and new beginnings as well as democracy and dictatorship.
With texts, images, maps, films, audio recordings and interviews with contemporary witnesses, the mBook enabled an active and contemporary examination of the topics on offer. It could be used inside and outside the museum.
The mBook was the first and so far only digital-media textbook on this topic in Germany. It was developed by the Institute for Digital Learning in collaboration with the Museum of Russian-German Cultural History and funded by the Ministry of Labor, Integration and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was launched in 2017 and won the German eBook Award at the Frankfurt Book Fair. After the project funding came to an end, the mbook has no longer been accessible since 2022.
