"Whoever is not for us is against us": The New Order and the Russian-German Youth in the Soviet Union (1917–1941)

What role did the Communist Youth League play in the politicization of German youth? What methods were used to influence the young people?
The planned monograph will focus on the activities of the Communist Youth League (Komsomol) and its relationship to German youth. In particular, it will address the interesting question of the degree to which German youth were politicized and the role that the Komsomol played in this. To this end, methods of directing national communist youth formations that the Komsomol Central Committee used to influence young people will be described. The monograph will also explore how ideas regarding the delineation of young people, especially the German youth, according to class characteristics were centrally developed and put into practice.
