"Thirteen young Russian Germans bear the name Eugen. They have never met each other, yet they share a striking experience: they were all formerly called Evgenij. Their stories and experiences are unique. The author Eugen Litwinow travelled with them into the past, sharing long conversations about growing up in the former Soviet Union, their views on changing their name and about life in Germany".
The exhibition is based on the book project of the author Eugene Litvinov published in 2013. The focus is on 13 young Russian-German repatriates, whose generation is described by sociologists as the one that was "brought along". After their resettlement, each of these people changed their name from Evgenji to Eugen. Looking past the major issues of daily politics, a central focus is on the personal feelings and experiences of these individuals, who are portrayed in an aesthetically appealing way and celebrated as accomplished young men.
The Cultural Office mediates the exhibition on the book and organizes the vernissage talks.
